case insensitive searches

have you ever faced this issue?

How would you develop a metadata to allow for case insensitive searches once in waqr o prpt reports?
I have a description column which contains some details of expenses (like plane, taxi, meal) which cannot be cathegorized. Therefore a basic grouping or filtering is possible only standardizing the case of words..
