how to Disable logging temporarily during runtime and resume logging after few steps

Hi,
Is it possible to disable logging temporarily during runtime and resume logging after few steps.
Reason for this requirement:
I have process that waits for file as its source input and I am using wait for this file job entry step to look for this file
every one minute. The problem is each time it does a lookup for the file there is an entry in the log file.
Assuming that there could be an infinite delay then there could be entry into log file during each lookup.
There is risk of space exhaustion due to log file growing in size. So I want to disable logging dynamically after the first lookup
and only resuming after it finds the file.

Please let me know how to implement this if there is a solution.
