data tables: expanded rows and group columns, is it doable?

hello

i'm fairly new to the pentaho and kettle world, and wondering if it is posible to do this with kettle transformations:

- "group" colums, e.g. 2014 months grouped under a "2014" header
- "expand" rows to show inner levels of data (not interactively)

as i know i'm pretty bad at explaining here's a mockup:

i'm aware this is probably very basic, i am currently learning as fast as i possibly can but didn't find if this is possible at all
