Pentaho reporting designer version conflict

We were getting blank reports on pentaho server due to the version conflict between the pentaho server(v5.3) and the report designer client(v5.4) which we installed.

I installed previous version of pentaho report designer( v5.3) and was able to populate the report successfully without any bugs.

My question is how can we upgrade Pentaho server from V5.3 to V5.4 so that we can use pentaho report designer client V5.4 ? All I see is Pentaho V5.3 community edition on AWS market place.

Any help on this is appreciated.
