How to properly push model to production (version control)

Hi there,
I am trying to build proper pentaho BI development process with version control system (we use GIT). I put biserver to GIT, made the kettle job that is taking new repository changes from GIT but can not find the proper way how to put the metadata model to the production without publishing straight to the production server.
What I mean is that I can put solution folders (biserver/pentaho-solutions/some_solution_folder) and metadata.xmi to GIT and after that pull it on production but they do not appear in the pentaho web console.
What do I need to do additionally to make it appear in the pentaho web console?
