pdi datasource with salesforce input as step not working (?)

greetings.

PRD 3.9.1 in /opt/pentaho/report-designer
PDI 4.4.0 in /opt/pentaho/data-integration

using transformation as Pentaho Data Integration datasource in PRD with a SalesForce Input step in it and when I try to preview it (in the 'add datasource' process) I get "caught kettle exception. check your configuration' thrown. "we failed to initialize at least one step..."

In troubleshooting I have found these and done them:

copied ../data-integration/plugins into $HOME/.kettle/ (based on this research found here: http://forums.pentaho.com/showthread...RD-data-source)

copied all ../data-integration/libext to ../report-designer/lib (based on http://infocenter.pentaho.com/help/i...ta_source.html)

I have also tested with another transformation that uses a mysql query and that preview works fine.

any thoughts on what else I can look into and/or known issues using the SalesForce Input Step?
