Using prd_pdi parameters with excel files

I have done some work sending parameters from Pentaho report designer to Pentaho Data Integration, while using table inputs in the transformation, the result was successful. But I can't use parameters with Microsoft Excel Inputs. First question is it possible at all? second if it is possible what is the trick?

I should say I use prd-ce-3.9.1-GA along with pdi-ce-4.4.0-stable.
