Oracle DB Connection appears to be ignoring fetch size parameters

Has anyone seen an issue with Oracle 11G and pentaho where the fetchSize parameter seems to be ignored. Running a test on oracle, the read write metrics are incrementing 10 at a time. Not what I would have expected with a fetchSize set to 1000.

Hopefully am setting the parameter correrctly to start with.
I have used in the oracle connection the options menu with param name=fetchSize and value =1000

Using pentaho 5 with JDBC.

Any suggestions?
