Dashboard and Report Analysis not Working

I was looking forward to some open source BI tools, as my team consists of java developers, initially for internal use and show some sample reports to my manager using our data . For the time being I have installed Pentaho Community Edition. Have installed the Business Analytics Platforms(BAP) and Report Designer packages. But in the BAP I am unable to generate reports in the Open Analysis Report using the data of my database. I have created a DSN connection with MySQL. But I am only able to generate Ad-hoc Reports using my data. Also many of the options like CDE Dashboard and BTable Analyzer are not functioning. So can you guide me regarding this issue. Had no such problem in the Report Designer. But my ultimate priorities are dashboards.
