subreport page header fields not showing up in report or designer

Hey guys

I'm using Pentaho Report designer 5.0.1. My report is using a banded subreport and i'm trying to display fields/labels in the subreports page header and footer.
Page footer is working as expected, but items added to the page header are not even displayed in the report designer (see the attached image)

Any idea whats going wrong?
