Lotusnotes- Domino plugin Pentaho 4.4 performance

Hi all - we are using pentaho 4.4 to extract data from the Lotusnotes database using the Domino Input step. we are extracting the data and writing it into a file , no other complex steps involved.But the performance we are noticing is very slow 30 rows/sec . Are there any performace steps that can be applied to improve ?
