Writing to CIDR datatype column in a PostgreSQL database

Hi all, I'm having an issue with PDI-CE-5.0.1-stable on Windows Server 2012. Complete newbie here, please be gentle.

I'm trying to load a table from one Postgres database to another with no changes or transformations in between. One of the columns is CIDR datatype, of the format 10.0.0.0/12 for example. Kettle seems to convert it to string/text/character varying automatically between reading it from the first db and writing it to the second. I tried using the Select Value step to convert it to an IP Address data type, but that doesn't work because the subnet mask is included. I didn't see any other data types that could work. I'd rather not convert the output to a string.

How do I do this? In general or in specific. :)

MONDRIAN-884 - Missing XMLA fields

My company is currently embedding Mondrian 3.5.7 into one of our applications. One of our larger customers uses Microstrategy for reporting. Unfortunately, Microstrategy fails when importing cube definitions from Mondrian over XML/A due to some missing columns as described here.

If I were to submit a patch to add the missing columns, what would be the best branch to perform the work on? I would like to get the changes included in the next version to be released. Perhaps 3.6 or 3.7 codebase? Are there any scheduled release dates?

BTW - I am using MondrianXmlaServlet to provide the XML/A connectivity.

every time when i click on "Get fields to change" in the icon "Select values" I face the error:

Unable to close prepared statement after determining SQL layout
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'OPTION SQL_SELECT_LIMIT=DEFAULT' at line 1

some say it's the problem of mysql-connector-java jar file.
I am using PDI 5.0.1

Community Chart Components how to set data?

Hello.

I am here again to ask some basic silly questions. I have been using these CCC charts that Pentaho CE provides on it's own already and you do not have to be so much of a guru of any coding to get the charts to work. But, now that I have been searching and looking different kind of solutions, I have been seen this page where is a lot of charts with their basic codes. (The page: http://www.webdetails.pt/ctools/ccc.html) Only problem is, how do I use these? And if I have a sql query, lets say that has sales on it, where do i put the data and how? Sorry for asking this kinda help, but I am not finding any help from anywhere else ..

I have accomplished to get protovis like charts to work with the protovis component, and the data input for those is kinda different.. Or am I just imagining something my own? (Maybe I was just lucky to get those work ..)

Tomcat on Pentaho 4.8

Hi.
I just started with Pentaho 4.8 in CentOs 5.8. In Pentaho I saw that tomcat was built and I wanted to know if there was the possibility to access in the Tomcat administration web page? I want to install mysql and phpmyadmin from this Tomcat. Is this possible or do I have to install another Tomcat for that?

Dashboard and Report Analysis not Working

I was looking forward to some open source BI tools, as my team consists of java developers, initially for internal use and show some sample reports to my manager using our data . For the time being I have installed Pentaho Community Edition. Have installed the Business Analytics Platforms(BAP) and Report Designer packages. But in the BAP I am unable to generate reports in the Open Analysis Report using the data of my database. I have created a DSN connection with MySQL. But I am only able to generate Ad-hoc Reports using my data. Also many of the options like CDE Dashboard and BTable Analyzer are not functioning. So can you guide me regarding this issue. Had no such problem in the Report Designer. But my ultimate priorities are dashboards.

CDA Datafactory Error in Saiku adhoc

Hello,

I use Pentaho bi server CE v4.5 on windows. I have successfully installed the CTools using the .sh installer.

I have also created a simple metadata model with metadata model editor 5.0. When I use the query builder, I can see myy data, no problem. After having exported the .xmi in pentaho-solutions/[my_apps]/metadata.xmi, I have created a "saiku adhoc" report where I have been able to see my model categories (login: "most famous joe on this forum"/password).

My problem is that when I select a field in my model and put it in the column part of my report, I get an error saying:

Note that I get this error with the other sample models (human resources and so on) too.

I have made some unsuccessuful researches on Google but an old post which solution didn't work for me.

Do you have any idea ?

I have looked into the .cda file in system/tmp and found the mql query. If I paste it in the sql editor of the metadata model editor, there is an error saying that the domain type can not be null. Indeed, there is no domain_type tag in the saiku query, versus a <domain_type> relational </domain_type> line in the metadata model editor syntax. Is this okay ?

Retrieving file on server.

Hello all!
I am having some issues trying to access a file to read with my transformation. The ETL is located on a server and I need to retrieve a file that is loaded daily unto the system. Previously, I have been able to just use ${Internal.Transformation.Filename.Directory} and the file name with a dynamic variable(the date) however this file is located on the server but in a different location.

For example,
If the transformations are located on C:\Users\A\Transformations and the txt files are located on C:\DAILYLOAD\EXTRACTS

Can I directly link to this address in the text file input or would it be more beneficial to use a "Get a file with FTP" step? I would like to keep the files in the original location but if need be, I can transfer to a temp folder in the same location of the transformation.


What would be the best way to dynamically adjust the file name(date) to make sure only the most updated file is being used?
If C:\DAILYLOAD\EXTRACTS have the files
TEST1_20140603
TEST2_20140603
TEST1_20140604
TEST2_20140604

Is there some slick way to pull the most updated Test1 and Test2? Or should I use variable substitution?

Repeted values on filter (On Analyzer)

Hello guys,
I have a hierarchy as follows:
-> Pessoa
level 1 - Nome (name of person);
Level 2 - Tipo (can be legal or physical).


When I drag the level 2 (type) all kinds of table is presented. My expectation is that it was presented only the "physical" and "legal" alternatives.
In Saiku the filter has the option: "Show unique values", which is exactly what I need. I believe Saiku performs an operation of 'group by' on the bench in this column.
But the analyzer does not have this option.


Any tips on how to resolve this issue in the analyzer?

Failed to load image in pentaho CDE

Hi Sir
I want to insert an image (for example, a logo) in my CDE dashboard. I added a html in a column and used the img tag like this :

Also i have tried this also

The images folder inside the pentaho solution where my cde file is save.But my image was not displayed. I also tried the "Add Image" functionnality present in the layout structure tab, but that doesn't work either.
Can you help me ?

If when i try to insert image through external css and giving same path in my css file its working fine.

can any one help me how i can do this through html in pentaho cde.

I am trying to create a CCC bar chart that has it's bar highlighted with colors if values exceeds some condition. i've found lot but couldn't get nothing. for example ,

Create folder with date as it's name

I have a job to get file from ftp server and then dump it into folder . The name of target folder should be 20140614(yyyymmdd). How do I create such a folder?

  1. Can i get this done without using transformtaion?
  2. I have tried creating a transformation with environment variable but I am not able to format date properly.
