Connecting to mapR haoop cluster using PDI

Hello Friends,

i have one mapR hadoop cluster, i would like to connect and process the files present in HDFS.

when i try read some file in HDFS, i am facing the below exception.

CDE - Widgets and Components don't appear in the PUC repository

Hi everyone,

I am using Linux Ubuntu and BI-Server is running as pentaho user group pentaho.
sudo -u pentaho JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.7.0_21 ./start-pentaho.sh

I'm trying to create widgets but they don't appear in cde/widgets folder on BI-Server repository.

I also tried putting my library of prebuilt widgets in cde/widgets folder
however they don't appear to be able to edit them.
Note:
* All files. Wcdf. Cdfde. Cda are with correct permissions (pentaho: pentaho - chmod 600 / -rw-r--r-- )
** CTools is installed using ctools-installer.sh on webdetails - github
*** After creating a new widget or copy prebuilt widgets in cde/widgets and after
changing the correct permissions the BI-Server was restarted

1. Is there any problem in running the BI-Server as root user? :confused:
(I noticed that on a production server the BI-Server that runs as root user has
fewer problems in displaying dashboards and widgets copied in the repository)

2. What should I do for new and pre-built widgets appear in the folder cde / widgets? :confused:


Any assistance on the approach will be greatly appreciated.

Using Dates

When creating an Analyzer Report or Dashboard on the User Console, I'm using a MySql database as my data source. It contains a single table, with one of its columns in a TIMESTAMP format.

How can I use the date filters on Pentaho to organise my data by year/month, etc? It only seems to read this timestamp as a string... Do I have to have separate year/month columns in my database for this to work?

Any advice is much appreciated, thanks.

h2 server problems

hey im a newbie in this thing.

so ive created my transformation flow, then i want to add a connection to a database. ive followed the tutorial from the getstarted.pdf, the one that uses H2, localhost, 9092, etc.
unfortunately, when i tested it, it failed.
the 2 packages that ive downloaded are BI server and kettle. ive extract the packages, ran the start-pentaho.bat from the bi server folder, and then ran the spoon.bat

is there something that im missing? please do help

Read Specific data from text file

Hi

I'm new to DataIntegration part
I have a text file which is basically system log file,so now i wanted to get specific information from the file
Since log file will be unstructured format how i should read specific data from file and store in Database tables..
My output table should be like this
Date time Cpu Usage Memory usage Errors Error Description
21/6/2013 3% 20% 1 Error reason
28/06/2013 9% 66% 10 ,,


Please help out how to achieve this,and what are the concepts i need to know to do this..

Passing values into a query in CDE ???

Hello Everyone,

This may be a basic question for some pro's but i am a newbie. Here we go

*) How can i pass a value into a query by means of which it can retrieve data to be used in generating some charts in a dashboard. To be specific do we have something like prompt(xaction) in CDE so that i can use it to enter some value which will be passed to the query as a parameter.

Pardon me if something is wrong with what i asked.

Table Output Step Unable to determine the required fields

Hi,

While defining my output table with connection to Postgres DB kettle finds my target scheme & target table, but when i press `Get Fields` button nothing happens (specify database fields checked).
While pressing `Enter field mapping` i get the following error:

"Unable to determine the required fields.
Unable to determine the required fields because the specified database table couldn't be found."

If i create the table via SQL button everything works fine, but how come that when i specify an existing table it cant be found?

I'm using 4.4.0-stable version,

Hi Team,

Firstly I am loading the geo map in a page on click of the zoom ,i have given href to the same geo map which will be shown in a pop up. The problem is that the map is not getting loaded completely in the popup.

Hi folks,

I'm doing a presentation on Kettle to a users' group and wanted some data on who uses PDI/Kettle. I searched the forums, but didn't see such a survey in the past, nor did I find any info using google.

Hi,

I need to display iframe jquery popup whenever a component on bar chart (cccv2) is clicked. when i tried i am getting the following error.
PVC chart not supported html Dom elements.

DO i need to do any changes in the Chart Components so as to display iframe popup.
As of now the window popup is working fine. Issues are with iframe popup.

How to get PUC Login Page after Tomcat's Basic Authentication..!!

Dear All,
I'm trying to introduce a basic authentication for Pentao BI portal, where after the basic authentication, it should bring me to the standard PUCLogin page.


I've added the following lines in 'tomcat-users.xml' :
<role rolename="Admin"/>

And add following lines in 'web.xml'

With the changes for enabling basic authentication, it's asking site access authentication for 'Admin':

But after the basic authentication, its again asking for 'Pentaho Realm', which is for application login :

Once I put 'Joe' and 'password' in the dialog box, then it will redirect me to the Home page.

What I really want is, after the basic authentication, the landing page should be the Pentaho's Login page.


Please advise me how the 'Pentaho Realm' is coming in? What are the additional changes I need to do with Pentaho/Tomcat configurations?

Sending email when i get error while loading table

Hi,

i am loading data to table using spoon. if any records rejected or if any errors occur, i want to send an email.
How can i do this? id i use a mail step after the Table output, it will write all the error records in the email. i dont want to do this, because if there are million errors for some reason, i dont want to bring down the mail server.

Fuzzy Match and special characters

Hello all,

I'm trying to use the Fuzzy Match step with french words (and for specifically, french first names).
Is there a way to use this step with special characters. My tests show that Therese (my input test) is closer to Terese than it is to Thérèse (the proper writing). Using an automatic replacement would result in this first name being written unproperly instead of just missing the accents. I would not be cleaning my data but just making it worse ;)

I have the same problem with other accents, cedillas, dieresis or Π(among others)

I'm trying to create maps and office layout (call center KPIs) on Inkscape and save as SVG file to use as a base to add information / chance colors using queries from the DW. Already spotted an example in the "Bi developer examples / SVG" but I could not move forward from there. Anyone know any tutorials or guidance so that I can continue?

How to get a part of a select component string as parameter

Hi !

Someone could guide me on the best way to capture a value in a select component but only a portion of the string as a parameter. In particular the first 3 characters of counting from left to right.

I know it must be something very elementary to senior members but I'm stuck. This procedure will become much more friendly the DashBoard.

Teradata Connection Error

i am trying to load data into Teradata. i am able to successfully connect using spoon. when i run the job using kitchen, i get the below connection Error.
i verified all the parameters, everything seems correct. i have the teradata jdbc driver copied to the JDBC folder. can you please tell me the reason for this error?

Only display peak values

Hello.

Rocking some CDE dashboards and find that more often than not I only want to show 1 or 2 values in a chart (line chart in this case).
Any documentation leads on how I can 'run through the values and only display specific values?

I am guessing its going to be JS code inside valueFormat, but I'm lost on how to do it and have to believe this would be helpful to the masses.

Hi, i have a big problem, i need make a connection to a SAP database with Pentaho BI. What's the driver? What´s the path? If someone could help me with a manual or a tutorial, I would greatly appreciate.
