Running jobs on PDI Dynamic Clusters

Hi Guys,

Just wanted some clarification if it can be offered.

My understanding about Dynamic Clusters are that if you have 1 master and X slave servers, when defining the cluster schema in PDI, I just name the load balancing master and check it as a master and leave the rest out. Is that correct?

Hi All,I want to know how can I extract data from XML file into MySQL table.There are few inputs and transform availble like Get Data from XML, XML Input Stream (STAX) in Input; And XSL Tranformation in Transformation.My requirement is to simply extract the data and load in database table. Customize PUC by specific user

Hi all,
i would like to customize PUC taking care of the user who login into the system.
For example, I would like that an admin user could see all menu buttons and, instead, an authenticated user or another one could see only some menu-buttons.

I read about the possibility of changing PUC-UI, but i didn't find any documentation for my issue, e.g. change the UI basing on the user role.

Any suggest will be appreciated.

How to return caption in DRILLTHROUGH?

Hello, I would like to return the content of a level's captionColumn, localized, as the result of an MDX DRILLTHROUGH query. By default only the column (and, if set, the nameColumn) contents are returned as a result column. and I have tried various ways unsuccessfully. It this achievable?

Structuring DW

Hi, there is no high relation to kettle, but please advice me.

I need an advice for creating my DW. I have some experience in creating DW (using Pentaho as BI server), I made an array of scheduled database queries which creates 4 dimension tables and 1 fact table (for sales reports). Now, there is a need for spreading out DW (for import, warehouse, logistic reports), so my question is:
Do I have to make more fact tables for each department (and dimension tables for those), or there is some other structuring model?
Of course, this time it will be done using Kettle, but need general advice.

Hello,
I am new to Kettle and at a learning stage. I have been given responsibility to upgrade Pentaho Data integrator 3.1 to 4.4 version. I would need some guidance in this matter. In first place, Is it possible to upgrade directly from 3.1 to 4.4 without upgrading to next higher version 3.2. Any source of study material would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Teradata New Source Database tables Schemas shows only DB with Tables ... not Views

I'm able to create a datasource to a Teradata DB when using the SQL Query mode.

However, when trying to create a datasource to a Teradata DB with "Database Tables", Pentaho is only showing me Schema only where tables exists in the selection list. In our case, I need to have access to a schema containing only Views, no Tables (this is the way our DBC/DBA setup the Teradata DB) and Pentaho is not showing that Schema in the selection list.

I try with setting the Default Database in the the connection URL to no avail.

Is Pentaho looking for schema with tables only and not showing VIEWS in the Schema list?
Is there a way to change that behavior?

fresh installation bi server 4.8 migrated old version project pie charts not dipslayi

Hello, I have install new stable version for bi server 4.8 on centos linux server and mysql. then i copied over the old bi server version company project. start the server i am able to see the report but the pie charts wont display the image. I can see that there is data bc i can run the same report in the old version (3.9).

I can't create model files

Hello everybody.

I'm trying to create a model file from a sql database, but pentaho has had an error while saving model. The message is the follow: "an error was encountered while saving models. Please check the log files". I checked the log (localhost.2013-07-31) and I found this:

Spoon take 30 minute to start pentaho

Hi,

I am using Pentaho PDI 4.2.1
With Windows 7 32 bit and Java1.6.When I restart my PC and open spoon .bat file then it will take 30 minute to start Pentaho.

Can anybody know why it take so much time.

or is there any solution for this.

Problem with TABLE OUTPUT

Hi,
Each time for loading data into the database from a table output, from the edit step SQL query needs to be run. Otherwise the table is not formed. So when a job is executed through kettle, table is not forming. Each time SQL query needs to be run. So can you suggest how can automatically the query can be executed so that it can be easily scheduled for loading bulk data into the databse automatically through kettle?

User Defined Java Expression invokes a void method

Hi, I have a UDJE which invokes a static void method created by me.

Problem is when I call it from a UDJE: it returns me "Operand stack underrun at offset 8".

Is there any way yo call static void methods in UDJE? what should I put in "Value Type" and "New Field" boxes if I´m not generating anything?

Note: I cannot use UDJC because I´m working in a Mapping step, and as due to a bug of Pentaho, UDJC doesn´t work propperly.

Using session variable as Contraint in PME

Hi,

I am building a Metadata for Interactive reports. My report requirement is, when user logs in he should get list of regions related to his job profile. I am able to populate a comma separated list of regions in session variable "sRegion" using an action sequence.

Now, I want to use it as a contraint in Metadata business Model. So I am trying to write following condition:

IN(BT_TRegions.BC_Region;"SESSION("sRegion")")

However, above condition reads session variable as full string and not as separate region: Eg. "FA,NY,GA" etc. hence the report does not return any value.

Is there any way I could read regions separately?

I have source table like below
SwitchID|InvalidPorts
SW1|1-3,5-6,9
SW2|6-7,8


Now I need to insert individual records in the destination table.
Port Table
SwitchID|PortNumber
SW1|1
SW1|2
SW1|3
SW1|5
SW1|6
SW1|9
SW2|7
SW2|8


Any hints on how to parse the string and sequence to create the individual records is appreciated?

Hi,

I am wondering, what SQL stements window is doing under "Database Connections ->Advanced"? I wrote a query there but not able to see any effect on table I have selected.

Can someone enlighten me here?

Hi expert

I used SQL script component to load data into hive. The following is the script:
load data inpath '/user/hive/warehouse/deltauser/abc*' into table user partition (day="20130801");

But now, I want to using a parameter to replace the date, the value is the date when I run this script.
Can you tell me how to replace this string with a parameter?
