Tree/Hierarchy selector? Drill-down selector?

Hi all.

Simple question - is there a Tree/Hierarchy Selector available in CTools or any CDE components?

Ideally, something that presents as a vertical list where the user can "expand" or "drill into" the list items to see a more granular list. I want to hook this up to a hierarchical Dimension like "Location" so a user can dril through a country, through a state, and then select a City - and have the dashboard refresh to show data for that parameter.

I know that we can setup cascading dropdown selectors, so that I select a Country in selector 1, which then filters Selector 2 where I can select a State, and so on... But I'm looking for a single selector that is able to handle the whole hierarchy.

I've found some old (like 6 years old) threads where this has been asked, and the answer appears to be no, and I can't really find anything through google, but I thought it was about time to ask the question fresh, to get a fresh answer.

Paging Through a Horizontal Bar Chart

Hi,

I just started a demo project with CDE. I have a horizontal bar chart that displayed for the first x results. I'd like users to be able to scroll/page through the result sets. So, for example, they could look at the first 20 items then the next 20 and so on. This is pretty straight forward with a table, but how would I do it with a chart?

Displaying pentaho report with PDI as datasource [HELP]

hi.. i have a project with netbeans to display pentaho report,

if for displaying report without any datasource [just text only], my report will show up / appear.

but if my report use some parameter or PDI as datasource, my report is not show..

this is my netbeans project, in this project already include pentaho library and prpt's file.

Unusual transform

This is probably the most stupid format I have ever seen, but unfortunately it's beyond our control. I have been playing with normalize/denormalize but unable to find a suitable way to do it.

We receive rows with some non-zero values and we should produce rows with pairs of fields, one with a fixed name for every non-zero value and a second with the non-zero value itself ... and of course (this is the real problem) the non-zero pairs on the firsts fields of the row :(

Input rows:

id,V1,V2,V3,....,V20

where some Vi are not zero.

Output rows:

id,'F3',V3,'F5',V5,null,0,..... (for a row with v3 and v5<>0)
id,'F1',V1,'F7',V7,'F19',V19,null,0,... (for a row with v1, v7 and v19 <>0)


For example:

1,0,0,25,0,30,0,...,0
2,100,0,0,0,0,0,70,0,...,115,0

must become

1,'F3',25,'F5',30,null,0,...
1,'F1',100,'F7',70,'F19',115,null,0,...

Any idea?

I open BI-Server on the browser and type in my username and password. When I click "Login" BI-Server shows me a pop-up saying my login is invalid. Then I have to click login again (without changing anything), and the pop-up appears again. Then I click login the third time and it works...

How can I stop BI-Server to behave this way?

Bigdata hadoop cluster setup issue

Hi Team,

We are working on Pentaho and Bigdata POC and facing Hadoop cluster setup issues in pentaho.

Below are the steps followed but no luck.

1. Downloaded the Pentaho 7.0 trail version
2. CDH version 5.8
3. Received the below files from hadoop cluster and placed in Hadoop configuration > CDH58 folder.
4. Kerberos setup is done in pentaho windows machine
5. Done the required changes in config.properties file and provided kerberos credentails.
6. created the hadoop cluster with hostname as 10.xxx.xx.xx and port as 8020 and same host details available in core-site.xml file.
7. added DNS entries in etc/host file.


Please can you help if i need to follow anyother steps to setup hadoop cluster and send files to HDFS.

Es Pentaho la herramienta para manejar grandes volumenes de informacion?

Hola, ingreso al foro porque espero ser un usuario de Pentaho.


Les quería consultar lo siguiente, estamos usando un ERP y manejamos mucha información, muchas transacciones diarias, y con lo que nos encontramos actualmente es en el problema de disponibilizar esa información para los usuarios en distintos reportes. Estos reportes pueden ser de mas de 100.000 lineas, lo utilizan para la operatoria diaria.


Mi idea es llevar es información a Pentaho y darle el acceso a los diferentes usuarios para que lo bajen directamente desde ahí. Ahora bien, se que Pentaho es considerado un BI y entiendo que los BI son mas apuntados a las decisiones gerenciales.


Es correcto usar Pentaho para manejar y bajar grandes volúmenes de información? Recuerden que estoy hablando de mas de 100.000 registros por bajada. Me han dicho que quizás debería buscar una herramienta con buen reporting pero yo me quiero inclinar por Pentaho (se que tiene pero no sé si después nos quedamos cortos en la solución). De esta manera podemos quitar mucho tiempo de procesamiento y recursos del ERP.

REST resource to delete xanalyzer files

Hello,

I was trying to do some renaming and deletion operations on the xanalyzer files on the BI-server. I was successfully able to rename the files using /repo/files/rename. I tried looking for the similar REST resource to delete the files from the server, but didn't find anything promising. Does anyone know about how to do the deletion?

Calculate month between 2 dates

Hi Gurus,

I'm trying to calculate month diff between 2 dates. The ideal output should be similar to oracle months_between function and returns a double/decimal value.

e.g.

months_between(2016-12-31, 2016-11-30) = 1.0 # as both are the last date of a month
months_between(2016-12-30, 2016-11-30) = 1.0 # as both are the same number of day in a month
months_between(2016-12-31, 2016-11-20) = 1.35
months_between(2016-12-31, 2016-12-20) = 0.32

Any idea?

Dynamic locale format in report

Hi ,

I have created one report in Pentaho Report Designer version 6.1.0.1-196.

I want to run report in a way that number columns will take format according to locale that I pass in report.

For Example :- If I pass en_US then it should be 36,000 and when I pass vi_VN it should be 36.000 for 36000 value.

Please let me know if anyone have a solution for this.

cannot commit when autoCommit enabled

And when it finishes, I got an error: cannot commit when autoCommit enabled.
How can I turn autoCommit off? I tried to set it in options tab in db connection property - but it doesn't work (autoCommit = false)

I am using WEKA with Java in an Android app. Now I want to find the best Parameters for Ensemble methods like LogitBoost, AdaBoost, Bagging and RandomForest. How do I do this the best way?
I found an article on the WEKA Community Website (http://weka.wikispaces.com/Optimizing+parameters) but I don't know how to use them in Java.

Folks,

I am migrating a solution set from pre 5 to post 5.

I have a huge number of xactions that create html file content that includes the use of pentahoAction for data access.

It no longer works! I get a UnifiedRepositoryException: exception while getting data for file with id .....

However, I can make a direct call to that same xaction using:
http://localhost:8080/pentaho/api/re...ent?SQL=select * from table&KEYCOL=0&NOOFCOLS=10
and it returns results correctly.

Can anyone tell me how to use the pentahoAction correctly in Pentaho 5+?

Kitchen starting second job kills first job

I have two jobs that I schedule using crontab. Both jobs are started with a common shell script using the below syntax. The jobs do not have the exact same start time, there is a one hour gap but the two jobs do overlap (first does not finish before the second starts). While testing I had the start times only offset by one minute.

Once the second job starts the first job is killed. Only message/log that I am finding is from the stderr output.

From stdout output it seems that karaf is properly starting both instances. So it is not clear how/why the first job is being killed. I am looking for any suggestions for logging to better identify the root cause of the failure or for configuration to allow multiple jobs to process on the same server at the same time.

Reusing input steps in Pentaho DI (extrenal file or database table)

I have some input steps that I am going to use in several transformations in a DWH ETL.
Some of them read data from files and other from database tables.
I would like to reuse this transformations....¿what is the best choice?, ¿use a subtransformation?, ¿can I use a subtranformation without a input mapping?, I mean only ouput mapping....

I want to create some resuable steps or transformations that when the structure of the input file or the database table change I only have to change this step or transformation

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
