Hello:

I'm using Pentaho Report designer 3.9 for a legacy project that has some reports that should support different languages (English, Spanish and Euskera).

I have a problem with the number formatting. While in English and Spanish numbers show properly (#.###,## in Spanish and #,###.## in English), in Euskera numbers are shown the same way that are shown in English, but they should be shown the same as Spanish.

I've tried setting the language as 'eu', as 'eu_ES' and 'es-ES' but I haven't suceeded.

Have anyone had a similar problem?

My last post, was early 2013. That’s more than FIVE years ago. What, you may ask, has been keeping me away from technical musings here? Two things.

I haven’t felt like it. I started blogging in 2004. When I took a break, I had been blogging for almost 10 years. That’s a LONG time.
I’ve focused any additional time outside of my direct work to being a dad…. Yeah, my daughter turned 5 earllier this year. It’s been a busy 5 years.

Now I’m just now getting the itch to publish some stuff. I have been DOING a ton. There’s some Machine Learning work, some ETL as a service stuff, some IoT things, etc. I am considering moving to medium though…

Couldn't find field 'account_id' in row!

I am having issues when running a transformation which includes Mongodb input on a DEV server.
The same transformation runs in production without any issues.
Error says that the field cant be found. But the field is available in the collection. Please help!!!!!!

Hi, I started using pdi 8.0 (was using 7.1 before that) and shortly after I installed the new version, I see this issue. Is there some setting in the new version that I can change to allow me to change these values?

Hi,

I have date input "26.03.0218". If I declare this as Date and set mask 'dd.MM.YYYY' this date is... fine.

Same trick in Select Values step.

I can imagine I extract year and check range value but maybe there is other way to validate if this is correct date?

PDI 8.1 small error detected

Hi,

Today I start used PDI 8.1 and I saw a light error in lash Design. When you select one step and put this step in transformation, you need to do two clicks on the arrow for hide folder in lash Design. If you click in folder name, this works fine.

Does the same thing happen to you?

Has anyone undergone an upgrade from Pentaho CE 7.x to the latest version of CE 8.1? If so, do you see any issues with the upgrade?
I am also looking for some feedback on how to make the upgrade smooth without having to take lot of downtime.

Hello.

For my implementation of Pentaho 7.1 CE, I need to get rid of this "Run in background" button: https://ibb.co/kQgsVo

But it does not allow me to do so. I was following https://jira.pentaho.com/browse/BISERVER-10883 but even if I deleted part:

Now I am not sure if I am editing wrong file, or failing at refreshing tomcat content. If anybody has a hint for me, i would really appreciate it. Thak you.

We have a Pentaho environment integrated with Microsoft Active Directory, in which, randomly the login does not work, without displaying any error message, it only redirects to the login screen. This behavior was reproduced in different browsers, and from different PCs.

In the log files catalina.out and pentaho.log with basic log level no error is recorded. In DEBUG log level, we have isolated the following fragment that corresponds to the moment in which the error occurs:

On the job properties, I had a checkmark on the "Make the job database transactional".

When running the job, on the first transformation step, the data got inserted properly on a first table,, then
it goes to 2nd transformation step to insert data on second table. This second table had an unique constraint violated.
Since I had a checkmark to make the job database transactional, I was expecting the rollback to occur on first table from
the previous (first) transformation step. That did not happen. Did I miss something or Does the checkmark mean something else?
Please elaborate.

Hi everyone!

A really weird thing happened to me, and it pretty much drove me nuts. From the server from which we run scheduled PDI jobs, I had mapped a couple of network shares. However, these mapped network drives did not appear from within PDI, and I could not access them in any way.

The solution? Well, I just opened the Open dialog (File > Open...) in PDI. From there, I mapped the network drive again. Didn't think it would work, but it did! I could map the drive from PDI first and File Explorer second, or the other way around. Both worked. The shares mapped from within PDI did not appear in File Explorer, and vice versa. Weird! I have no idea why this happened but if you have a similar problem, this might be something you could try.

Memory error

Hi all,

I need your help as always:

Finally I 've done a JOB that generate a SOAP request to Oracle CRMoD, get the XML, parse it and save it to a table.

These are the operations:

1. Truncate target table "B"
2. Evaluate if there are any record to be requested in the table "A"
3. Trasformation that take the 1st record from table "A" and do a SOAP request and save the collected data in table "B"
4. Update of table "A" of the processed record.

Now here is the problem:
After 272 processed (and always after 272 processed records) I receive a JAVA Out of Memory error.
I've tried to modify the script Spoon.bat in the following way:

Of course with no luck!
This wouldn't be a problem... the MAIN problem is that the process keeps running until I have another error related to the GC Memory, then process dies.
At the moment I've set up the same job with a twist...
The Job counts how many records had been processed and after 270 there is another evaluate step that do an ABORT on the current job.
Then I've cheated on Windows Task Scheduler to launch the process every minute (of course if the job isn't already running).

Does anybody has a better approach ?

Hi All,

I have a ktr designed for writing a excel in PDI 6.1 CE.This excel already contains data around 16500 records.
I overwrite some fields in it using microsoft excel writer step. I am not using template as I want to update existing excel.
When I enable Force Formula recalculation option then this step takes too long more then 30 mins and finally throws GC memory overhead error.
(I have set "-Xmx5000m -XX:MaxPermSize=5000m" in spoon.bat file).
If I enable Stream XLSX data option I get error "Attempting to write row[1] in the range [0,16558] that is already written to disk"

Please help!

Some times when I reference variables, for example in an SQL script a value like '${DIM_DATE}' is in fact translated to ' 20180529'. Note the space in the start. I would prefer if kettle didn't arbitrarily add random spaces to values. Note that this value started as an Integer and was accessed copied to the result rows set and accessed from there. The integer (Java Long) cannot include spaces.

I have tranformation:

Get File Names => Modified Java Script Value (where I create paths for report definition file and output file and path to Excel file) => Pentaho Reporting Output

PRD report (Pentaho Reporting Output step) base on PDI transformation. I need to receive parameter from first transformation and use it to pass to PRD query transformation (this is the name of Excel file to open).

The PRD query transformation is:

Get System Info => Microsoft Excel Input (read filename from step) => Sort rows

Well, I just try to find solution... No idea if Get System Info is able to receive parameter ("command line argument" type there)... no idea if the parameter, string (path to excel file), can be read by Microsoft Excel Input...

Anyone can help?
