Replacing PRPT Component's Paging Controls

I have a report to embed in a CDE dashboard but need to replace the auto-generated controls*. To that end I've set showParameters to false in my PRPT component and am passing parameters to the report from the dashboard. So far so good. :)

I'm going to try overriding the Output Type as described in this post but in the meantime I'm wondering how I might go about replacing the paging controls [ie. for the output type HTML (Paginated)].

Suggestions, thoughts or pointers would be most welcome.


* Or, alternatively, show the paging controls but not the auto-generated parameter inputs
